To check the file on a computer, run shasum -a 256 sathi.apk (Mac or Linux) or certutil -hashfile sathi.apk SHA256 (Windows) and compare the result with the SHA-256 above. Every new APK is signed with the same certificate; Android refuses one signed with a different one. In-app updates come from Expo's update service over HTTPS.
Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | To reach SATHI's server, and to tell you when you are offline. |
VIBRATE | A gentle tap when you press a button. |
These are the only permissions the app has (plus an internal one Android adds so that only SATHI can message its own parts), and Android grants them at install without a prompt. Most updates after this version arrive inside the app. SATHI never asks for your contacts, location, camera, microphone, SMS or call log.
Why not the Play Store yet?
SATHI is in a closed beta for adults in India. A Play Store listing is planned once the beta ends. Until then, Android asks you once to allow installs from your browser. If you would rather not install anything, SATHI works in your browser, including on iPhone, where you can add it to your Home Screen.
